Miracle Mile of Donations

DSCN0745Each year the Penfield-Perinton Kiwanis Club along with 11 other clubs of the Finger Lakes Division come together to raise money for our local children’s hospital.  The Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong is our local children’s hospital in Rochester NY, the Finger Lakes Kiwanis Clubs have been working with the hospital for over 35 years, and recently finished paying off a $75,000 commitment to build a new family waiting room in the brand new, state of the art hospital.  On Saturday, April 1st I invite you all to join us at the Eastview Mall in Victor from 10am – 6pm to help us support the hospital. This year the money is going to start the Kiwanis Family Support Fund, which the hospital will administer to families who may need money to catch a meal or hotel while their child is in the hospital.

DSCN0741If you are planning to be out and about this weekend in the Rochester area.  I ask that you come by the mall.  You will find children from our K-Kids program which are Kiwanians who are in Elementary schools, Builders club who are Middle school age Kiwanians, Key Club – high school Kiwanians, Circle K – College-age Kiwanians and Aktion Club who are Disabled adults.  All of our Kiwanis families come together and walk around the mall asking for donations from the shoppers to raise money for this Fund.  If you stop by our table, you can make a card that will be handed out to the children who are in the hospital.  If you or your child is an alumni of the Children’s Hospital we would love for you to stop by and hear your story.

I hope you all will be able to stop by for a visit, and help us raise money to help those who have children in the hospital.  It’s a great cause and as I always say, you never know how blessed we are to have this hospital in our backyard until you need it one day.  I pray none of you who read this will ever need the hospital but if you do you will know exactly what I mean when I say they become your family.
